I have nitro 5 an515-52 with i7 8750h and gtx 1060.
It seems that CPU tdp is locked to 56watts in turbo. And you can't change it with Intel xtu. Same thing was with Helios 500 with the same processor but it was fixed with an update which added new "max" power limit mode to Helios sense app. This mode allows CPU to use up to 70 watts.
I know that helios has better cooling but it would be nice to have some options. So I'm curious will this option be added to nitro 5 as well?

Make sure power plan is set to max performance and the machine is plugged in when you're trying to push CPU full tilt. Jack E/NJ

It's set to high performance and of course I tested CPU with plugged in notebook

I think you've answered your own question. The Nitro5 thermal module actually isn't too shabby either as it allows the cpu to safely exceed the recommended 45w dissipation for bare unit by more than 20%. Jack E/NJ

Yeah, but anyways would be nice to have an ability to use CPU at it max potential. It's underperforming with 45w tdp. It can score only ~850 points in xtu benchmark versus ~1400 for helios with the same processor. It's very frustrating

Well, you might be able to overclock and see if the thermal module can safely handle the extra heat. Jack E/NJ

    You can't overclock this cpu
