i got the acer nitro 5 an515-53 and since ive gotten it whenever i try to play games like siege or fortnite, or pretty much any current main stream games. my fps will be at 150-180 for most of my play session, then without warning will drop to 40-50 for about 3-4 seconds even when theres nothing important or intense happening on screen. i have tried installing new bios updates, including version 1.19 (the most recent one) i have tried installing the new chipset drivers. everything. and no matter what i can't fix it. sometimes it will start to work perfectly for about an hour or so after i try a "solution". sometimes even a day, then it will go back to having the same issue

please help

    Hi there,
Can you kindly post the screen shot of your task manager when it is hitting high usage?
Another thing, make sure no windows background updates are going on.
Plus, from your Nvidia Gforce Experience find out the driver version.

    Thanks.

I have the most recent Nvidia drivers and when the drops happen my god usage will go from 99% or so down to 30-40% causing massive frame drops for about 3-5 seconds. It's not a temperature issue, it's not a power delivery issue

Then, my friend, it is hard to tell what could cause high usage, I am sure that high usage would be of CPU or Disk or even Ram, we need to see task Manager to find out exactly which task is causing spike in usage, so only then we will be able to tell, other than that you can only seek help from the members who already faced this issue.

It's not a matter of usage SPIKES it's a matter of DROPS in GPU usage. And therest nothing unusual going on with my CPU in my task manager

    It's set to high performance
set it to balanced, restart system, then play games for an hour, power outlet plugged in, then come back and tell if you still face that issue.

men, then contact acer, may be GPU issue, or temp problem due to thermal throttling.
