My hard drive crashed and I had to reload windows. I installed Windows 7 ultimate x64.
I cannot seem to find the clear.fi which came preinstalled. Now the wireless track pad doesn't support the video and music function which works with clear.fi
Also when I install the fingerprint driver nothing happens. No setup starts so I cannot configure my fingerprint enrollment in the fingerprint easy start program. Any help would be greatly appreciated

My acer 5951G hdd crashed. Installed new one and OS the laptop originally had win7 home premium x64. No clear.fi. tried searching for program on Google nothing . Only the client share. I'm looking for the full suit which the track pad works with when you press music it opens up the clear.fi

Sorry, unless you made a recovery USB or DVD, you would need to purchase The ACER-specific Windows version with the pre-installed software based on your machine's serial number id (SNID) if they are still available from ACER distributors or dealers in SA. Jack E/NJ

Why should I purchase the software? All the other manufacturers provide software support for the machines they sell. This is the first time I am seeing that you need to buy the software. I purchased a machine. So are you telling me that if my hard drive fails or I decide to upgrade, this laptop is close to being useless????

Why does the fingerprint driver not work? I have already gotten the machine tested and there are no hardware issues. Why can't you guys just provide the proper software???? Why is the clear.fi for the multimedia remote not available on the software and drivers page?????? Why does the audio driver not work at all?I have tried installing both windows 7 home premium and windows 8.1
    Half the drivers are USELESS

I have an acer 5951G. My hdd failed and i bought a new one. I have tried windows 7 home premium and windows 8.1
The fingerprint drivers does not work.
The sound drivers does not work.
Clear.fi (the software for the multimedia remote) does not work. I have been told to purchase the software which absolutely ridiculous!!! Other manufacturers provide all drivers and software, this is the first time I have been told to purchase the preloaded software.
So if I had to upgrade my hdd, start afresh or if my hdd fails, my laptop is worthless.
Is ACER so desperate to make money that they have to stoop to such a low level??
I had the hardware tested and there are ZERO hardware issues. There is not much 3rd party support on these machines online. I will not pay for something that should be provided free of charge that's nonsense.

    Hi CR7,
The drivers for the unit is available for free in the acer site. If your hardware is not having any issues then try to take the recovery backup. previously they use to send a OS disk but now in latest computers the OS recovery partition is inside the unit so they are not sending for any brands. Try to download the drivers from acer site with the link below. hope it will be helpful.

Part of the reason is because these machines shipped with ACER-specific Win7 versions, not MS-generic versions. Some system files and embedded apps might not be the same or all there. So while the driver for the ACER-flavored EGISTECH hardware may work fine with ACER Win7 system files, not so with MS-Win7. I suggest trying to install the Win8.x drivers again but in Win7 compatibility mode.

These days most major players don't provide original factory system installation media or downloads for free.  Instead they advise immediately making backup or recovery media for the factory HDD config right of out of the box. Or purchase the original media based on the machine's serial number id (SNID) if it's still available.
