Hi,

I have a problem with my V15 Nitro Aspire VN7-592G.

After an update yesterday, the laptop wouldn't post. It turns on and the LEDs and lights all work byt the screen does not seem to turn on. I have tried using an external monitor and still no post.

When I turn it on, despite no post, it seems to act/sound normally until about 15 seconds in and the fans turn up their RPM to what sounds like max.

I have tried a BIOS Recovery using esc fn keys with no luck.

I have tried taking the laptop apart and looking for loose connections with no luck.

If anyone can help, that would be much appriciated.

Thanks!

    Hi,

If it's a BIOS update failure, I would suggest you to send it to Acer Service centre for a repair:https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/service-contact

EDIT: Sorry I missed that you have already disassembled, you could try removing the CMOS battery, leave it to rest for a while and reinsert it and see whether it fixes the problem.

Its a roll of the dice but you can try a battery reset: https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34843/~/acer-internal-battery-reset

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, that has not worked. I've tried replacing the CMOS battery with a new one and has not worked either. Still not posting. A battery reset has also not worked. I am currently working on AC power only to make sure the battery failure is not the problem.

It acts exactly the same on both battery and AC but I'm currently only using AC and uplugged the battery to make sure that is not the error.  I have a feeling the problem is to do with the motherboard. Do you guys know a way to reset the BIOS if fn esc is not working? CMOS battery removal didn't work either

    Hi,

I would suggest you to send it to Acer Service centre for repair or find a local repair shop who can replace the BIOS chip in your MB.

I own a V15 Nitro VN7-592G with the Intel Core i7-6700HQ. The exact issue you described occurred this morning; the keyboard and power indicators would light up, the hard drive spins, and the fans are cranked up to their maximum RPM, but the screen remains blank. Not a single sign of life on the LCD screen.

I then proceeded to dismantle the machine by removing the keyboard/touchpad cover on top. I removed the battery, checked the display connector on the top right corner, disconnected, then reconnected the keyboard, touchpad, hard drive, and backlit key lighting ribbon cables, and then assembled the laptop (taking care that the microswitch was closed). I did not notice any conductive debris shorting out terminals on the motherboards, or any physical signs of overheating (the CPU and GPU easily reach 95 Celsius under load).

It seems as though the process mentioned above seemed to magically eradicate the problem for me, but it seems as you have done more than just disconnect, and reconnect the ribbon cables, and were still unable to get your machine going again. I am still concerned that this issue might present itself in the near future sometime again.

However, please do contact your repair centre, and do report back yo us! I am still curious as to why this happened out of the blue.
