I have an Acer Aspire E11 E3-112-C083. The laptop comes with 4 Gb RAM. I want to upgrade it to 8 Gb.

Kingston's website only lists the RAM (KCP3L16SD8/8) for E3-112M, but E3-112 is not listed. Is the listed RAM compatible with my laptop?

https://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search?model=91231&devicetype=3&mfr=ACE&line=Aspire

In fact, I can't find KCP3L16SD8/8 here in Hong Kong, but KVR16LS11/8 is sold in many shops. According to Amazon's website, KVR16LS11/8 has slightly larger dimensions (2.8 x 1.4 x 0.3 in versus 2.72 x 1.18 x 0.12 in for KCP3L16SD8/8):

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1600MHz-PC3-12800-KVR16LS11/dp/B00CQ35HBQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1430362315&sr=8-2&keywords=16ls11
https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-KCP3L16SD8-1600mhz-Voltage-Sodimm/dp/B01B5SKK78

Will KVR16LS11/8 work with my E3-112-C083?  The first ten characters of my computer's S/N is:

     NXMRLCF005

Many thanks!

Go to the Device Manager & click on the RAM for more detailed information.  This would be of use, if you have 2 slots; so you can add a second 4 gb.  I think there is only 1 slot in the video below.

Because the RAM slot is under the motherboard, it's not an easy DIY project.

If you are unable to obtain a KCP3L16SD8/8, note that a KVR16LS11/8 is being installed in the video.  Show the video to the Acer Center.  If they think that the KVR16LS11/8 can be installed in your device, you can purchase it in confidence.  If not, they will be able to offer other options.

This thread seems to say that the RAM stick for the E3-112M would work for E3-112.  Would have been nice if Laurent included the word, "same", in his post.  It would be safer to use the KCP3L16SD8/8.  There is always the option of an online purchase if local stores don't carry it.  Because you are in Hong Kong, I would think you have many more possibilities than using Amazon.  You can practically go to Shen Zhen & pay far, far less than the US $70.24, even if they give you free shipping.

Hello Sharanji. Thanks for the very detailed information. I will go to the shops and ask specifically for the memory modules you listed. If I can't find them, may be I should go to the Acer service center and ask if they would do the upgrade for me.

By the way, is there a way to detect what kind of memory module I current have on my computer? My "Acer Care Center" tells me the serial number of my computer. I also have "Speccy", which tells me some brief info about my memory capacity. But I don't have anything that tells me the part no. of the module.

    Thanks again.

Thanks Wis for the link to Laurent's post. It does seem he implied that the two memory modules are compatible in terms of performance specs. I am just a bit worried that KVR16LS11/8 is slightly bigger in size and may not fit in my laptop.

Yes, you are right that because I am in Hong Kong, I can easily go to one of the several computer malls here and look at the RAM modules. But because I am not familiar with this kind of small-size modules, I want to find out which are the compatible ones before I buy anything.

Thanks Wis for sending the video. It is really useful. As you said, it's not an easy DIY job.

My Device Manager does not contain any items regarding RAM, so I looked elsewhere. I found that Powershell has a command that gives the details, including Part Number and Serial Number:

        Get-WmiObject -Class win32_physicalmemory

    Thanks again.
