G246HLG 24" Monitor very slow to show PC image

Hi there

I recently purchased an Acer G246HLG 24" Monitor - on the whole I am VERY happy with it: great price, excellent image quality and the base is very strong and stable so the monitor doesn't wobble at all.

But I have a serious issue with startup time: when pressing the lovely big power button with the nice blue light it takes ELEVEN SECONDS before the PC image appears!!!

That is just ridiculously slow. It's black for a second, then it shows the Acer logo for around 4 or 5 seconds, then an Energy Star logo for about 5 seconds, then black again before it finally shows the PC image.

That is the SLOWEST out of the dozens of monitors I have used over the years, including some very old CRT screens!

Is there ANYTHING I can do to improve this, i.e. turning OFF the logos?

thanks!

Chris

This does not seem to be an issue with monitor. Please check by changing the resolution settings of the graphics card. Also, you may uninstall the Graphics card driver, restart the computer and let windows install the driver automatically to check this issue. You may check by connecting the computer to a different port on your monitor.

    Hi Sharanji

Thanks for taking the time to post suggestions. But no, I'm sorry - it is definitely the monitor and not the PC. This new monitor replaced a Dell 17" screen which showed a picture in around 2 seconds - most monitors do show a picture in around 2 to 4 seconds, but this one takes 11 seconds which is pretty poor!

Just to explain a bit more - with monitor and PC both on, PC logged in so the desktop image is shown:

turn off monitor, turn on monitor - it does a self-test and shows the Acer/Energy Star logos - which are a part of the MONITOR firmware, NOT the PCs.

    Thanks anyway
