Hello,
few days ago I bought Acer Aspire 7 A715-72G-53T5. While playing The Witcher 2(not the most challenging game imo) temperatures of cpu and gpu are close to 80 degrees. Is there a reason to worry about?

    Hi aaronwilshere,

Laptop is designed in such a way that CPU begins to throttle itself, when it reaches 97C. The throttling point is the same for all 6th, 7th & 8th generation CPU's. However, you can see some change/decrease in clock speed from 94C to 95C. Computer will automatically shuts down itself, when it reaches 100C. Normally the heat temperature should not rise higher than 97C to 98C. On the other hand the GPU begins to slow down at 40C, because of Nvidia boost 3.0. Then with rising of the temperature above 40C the clock speed drops by a little and that may range in steps by 13MHz. At 83C-84C the GPU will throttle and this is where the clock speeds start dropping below the base clock speed. The thermal trip of pascal is at 95C.
