Predator 500 - To remove battery or not?

Hi, I'm an avid gamer, and a family man, this means I can have my PC idling in a game for hours whilst in a game, on most games the PSU isn't delivering enough power to both run and charge
at the same time(or if this is software, I don't know), which means when I dip below 40% power on my battery, I get throttled big time, and my performance is absolutely horrible in games.

Therefore I am contemplating removing the battery from the laptop, however I am not sure about the repercussions of doing this and/or if there are other ways to keep my PC from draining
power while I am running games. What are your experiences with this? I am Semi-tech savvy, and have read a bit on undervolting, but it's not something I've done before and would rather not dabble with unless thoroughly explained how and what to do, if this can fix my power problems I am more than eager to listen, because not having the battery plugged in would mean a hassle when I move my laptop around.

Also sidequestion: If I power my laptop down, and remove the power cord from the PC, my battery will drain insane and often when I turn on my PC after it being shut down and not charging for an hour or two, it can be completely dead or ~5% power. What is this?

Thanks in advance!

I unplugged it and left it inside. But, i'm not gaming with the laptop, only heavily using the CPU for work. My CPU is undervolted (-200mV) too. There are tons of tutorials on undervolting, there is no need to explain it again here.

The battery should not be drained when your laptop is shutdown. Are you sure it's shutdown? Isn't it in hibernation / sleep?
  • The drain from battery while laptop is off is an option in Acer Quick Access that leaves a single USB port on for charging external gear.

Turn it off in Acer Quick Access to remove the drain.

As far as draining that heavily while gaming, I have the 500 and haven't had any drop in battery levels at all.

Have you removed startup programs and auto update software?

Or do you just install lots of stuff and game away?

No I've barely installed anything, the only thing that runs on startup is Steam. I don't know about auto update software, I don't even begin to know what should be on auto update as I have barely any software installed to begin with.. I was playing PUBG for about 5 hours the other day, and my battery dipped below 40% a multitude of times. I don't understand it either..

Wasn't there some countries that had a limit on the power supply? So that it could happen that the battery was drained during gaming sessions even when plugged in?

I think i remember something about this said by some chap.

Unless you have PC on power, both when turned on and turned off, you risk losing data on any SSD (of any variety) you have in your laptop - these need trickle power to retain charge over periods of time.
Leaving battery on, even when connected to power 100% of time, will not really degrade battery - just make sure to use battery atleast once every 1-2 months.
