Touch Functions inaccurate in t232hl

I just picked this up today.

I have it connected properly - I can swipe, tap on tiles, open apps, etc.

I have tried it with 2 Win8 64 bit computers, with the same problems occurring.

(ASUS G73h & ASUS Taichi21)

I tried updating with drivers  I downloaded tody, but windows says I already have the best driver installed (the driver shows installation this aft.).

The problems so far:

1) some touch gestures don't work at all - for instance, in "Store", hitting the back arrow does nothing.

2) others are inaccurate - for instance, in a calculator, tapping on the 5 gives me a 6, tapping on the 4 gives me a 5, etc. Tapping Clear does nothing.

All these functions work with a mouse - it is simply the touch interface that is erratic.

I've emailed ACER support, but thought I'd try here as well. I like the monitor otherwise, but of course I can easily return it to Best Buy if I can't find an easy solution.

UPDATE: RE: "1) some touch gestures don't work at all - for instance, in "Store", hitting the back arrow does nothing."

I have found that they do work, just that the active point for a given button is not on the button . In Store, eg., I have to hit above the back arrow in an open space.

It's as if the entire touch grid is shifted - if you tap the button, nothing happens, or the next button is activated. But if you tap a few millimeters to the left or above the button, the function works.

ACER sent me update driver instructions -I had already done that, but tried it again.

Then I uninstalled the driver & went through the whole initial setup again as per the getting started booklet. Same problems.

Then I tried updating the driver again as per theirinstructions in their email. Windows won't update, saying I have the most up to date driver already installed.

So I tried updating the driver manually by going the "have manufacturer's disc" route and pointing to the extracted folder. It won't install anything claiming a problem with the digital signature.

You may want to try to calibrate yourTablet PC Settings on the PC you are connecting it to.

Thanks - that occured to me, but I couldn't find any such option in control panel - & wouldn't you think ACER could have pointed me in such a direction?

Instead they concluded that it was defective & wanted me to RMA it.

Took it back to Best Buy & bought a non-touch ASUS instead.

Poking around a bit further - I found display calibration settings under "tablet pc settings" in the Taichi's Control Panel - I had not seen that section - I had investigated "pen & touch" in Control Panel instead, not realizing that there were 2 distinct sections.

However, most of my testing was done on my ASUS G73, a former  Win7 machine upgraded to Win8 Pro on Oct. 26.

These sections are not present in Control Panel on that machine (?).

Regardless, I'm astonished that 2 different ACER techs failed to even point out the possibility.

Thanks JC_1234: if I get another touch monitor down the road, at least I'll have something else to try!

Not a problem, sorry you returned the Acer though. Smiley Frustrated
