Adding an SSD to the Acer Aspire A315-5130SG

Hello,

I want to add an SSD to my laptop but will the sata cable fit? The sata port is poining upwards and only has a few millimetres spare. How is the sata cable gonna fit?

    Answer ✓
    You can connect a 2.5 "SATA SSD to the empty drive with no problem! The SATA cable is the same for both 2.5" SSDs! The best brands are samsung, kingston, corsair! But you can buy Chinese brands like kingdian and kingspec which are also good and cheaper!

    You might have to order that drive cable... It's not the normal SATA/Power it's the newer high density type and there not a lot of room to curl up excess if yours is too long. There's also a bracket for holding it that you may or may not really need.

    Did you know that it can have entrance to ssd m2 2280 sata III? However it is good to confirm this by opening the notebook! Check with your country's support if opening the notebook violates the warranty!

    It is not that I want to replace the HDD to a SSD, I bought the laptop standard with a SSD but there is a an empty hard drive bay left. So I got another question can I fit a SSD in the empty drive bay? or can I only add a HDD? And which HDD, SSD do you recommend?

    Yeah I saw it, ill rather just use my SD card that I have. it is sticking out of the laptop but I can live with it.

    Did you check if the notebook came with the hd support? It is possible that he did not come with this support as the colleague said @billsey! Although the cable will be eSata, as said colleague @billsey, I think there will be no compatibility problems!

    Looked up on the web about an eSata port. How is this big cable gonna fit in If the port in the laptop is facing upwards?

    Those cables are pretty expensive. If I want them in my county I have to pay lamost $40 for it. I found a cable on aliexpress and would like to know if this is the right cable for it. it's free shipping and a lot cheaper!

    You have to remember that your notebook uses eSata cable! So I do not think this will work on your notebook!
