What's the maximum capacity for a secondary HDD/SSD in the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-576G-81GD), is it 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, etc?

Supports up to 2 terabytes! However, make sure your notebook includes the SATA input to install the 2.5 "HDD or HDD!
You probably have to buy hd support!

I think I'll get a 1TB SSD then within one month, and an additional 8GB RAM.As for it fitting, I've found out (from reading comments on Amazon) that I'll need the Acer HDD/SSD Assembly Kit from the Acer Store that will allow it to mount securely in the laptop chassis.0
