Why is my Aspire TC-280 restarting

I purchased this Aspire TC-280 (ATC-280-UR11) a few months ago and was disappointed that I could not run a two monitor video card or add another hard drive?  This help community couldn't offer a solution.  Today my main PC died and I've been copying the files over to this TC-280.  I was in the middle of writing a letter, when all of the sudden a message flashed across the screen "restarting"????  Then the PC shutdown and restarted.  There was no message that Windows was downloading and installing an upgrade and I didn't get that useless message "Updating files do not turn off your PC".  I can't find out why the PC restarted?  I don't think the PC is old enough, to start having problems.  Anyone else having this restart without notice problem?

I don't have a TC-280.   You might just need a fresh start although the computer had probably installed important updates in the background a long time ago and was needing to restart.  You can tell Windows to give you additional messages to make sure you know what's going on.

Hopefully you didn't install Windows in legacy mode.
You want UEFI mode.  Secure boot enabled.  Launch CSM=never.

I read your old posts from May.  It looks like that old graphics card isn't compatible.  However, there's lots of users that have installed modern UEFI graphics cards.  Click link below.  You may have to upgrade the power supply depending on the cards requirements.

    Please don't use legacy mode.

You can get your original recovery media from Acer if you forgot to create USB factory recovery drive and can no longer do so with Acer Care Center.  Don't forget to backup your files first.  If you've accidently installed Windows in legacy mode, you'll probably have to wipe your HDD so you can switch back to UEFI/GPT..  I think if you make sure you have the latest BIOS and get a fresh start (reinstall Windows), sit back and let Windows Update automatically update your computer...... you should be just fine.

You can install another HDD or SSD.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Thank you for all of that information, JordanB.  I am running Windows 10 that was factory installed from Acer.  I am in the process of trying to copy files from my dead Dell over to this new Acer.  I don't think I should have that legacy problem, unless Acer installed the wrong type of version.  I'll have to take the cover off, to make sure what power supply I have, before I think about buying one of those GTX 1050 cards.  At least I might have an option now.
You gave me something to think about.  Thank you again for your comments.
