was given aspireX3810 it has e7400 cpu i have old e8400 can i install the 8400?

    The motherboard supports the E7400,E7500,E8500 and E8600 processors, so no you'll need to step up just a little from the E8400. If I were upgrading I'd get away from the Core 2 Duo and use the Core 2 Quad options, Q6600, Q8200, Q8300, Q9300, Q9400, Q9550 or Q9650. The 8000 and 9000 series use a 1333MHz bus as opposed to the 1066 with the 6600.

    don't suppose you know how to get around the non adjustable cmos settings to overclock 8400 processor in the interim. i'll try to scrounge up aQ9650
