My cpu doesn't run at a constant clock, I need a fix desperately.

Howdy, finally figured out what the issue was with the massive frame drops. I glanced at task manager and saw that my cpu doesn't run at a constant clock. Although I select the performance clock in predator sense. Any suggestions? thanks in advance

    Hello! Good Morning!
    Go in the power options and select the high performance plan! If you want even more performance, enable the maximum performance option by going to the cmd as administrator and typing the following code powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61

    @Piperrr

    What kind of frame rates are you aiming for? Anything above 60 on a 60Hz monitor won't be noticeable, and cause an unnecessary load on the system. Turn on vsync and cap frames at 60, and chances are you won't be see these massive frame drops any more.
    Also running CPU at full clock for extended periods will only do more harm than good.

    What is your laptop model?

    Hey, I have an acer predator helios 300. GTX 1060, i7-7700HQ, clocked at 2.80GHz - 3.60 GHz. For all games I cap my frames at 60. I am experiencing frame drops from 60 to 30-40. So quite a drastic difference.

    That's the same as what i have. Occasional frame drop is okay, since 60 to 30-40 does not make too much of a nuisance when switching scenes suddenly. The CPU needs time to ramp up to render those frames.

    By the way, as a side note, disabling the nvidia hair in witcher got the GPU usage from constant 95% to 60%. So little things like this matter quite a bit in terms of power needed to render. You would need to balance out.

    Don't compare between laptops... since my power plan is designed like the accelerator of modern cars... when you are using constant pressure, and depress it full out of the blue, cars hold on for about half a second before pumping in full power. In the same way, on my laptop processors are all parked when not needed. Only when processing power is maxed out at the current speed step at a sustained level for a fraction of a second, it is pushed to the next level, and parked processors are woken up.

    Below is the screenshot from my heaven benchmark. Notice the difference between min and max FPS.
    Run your heaven benchmark at full screen and post its completion screenshot.
