I have a new (3 weeks) Acer Spin SP314-51 and the audio turns off after a few hours.

I need to reboot each time to get it running again. I have tried reinstalling the audio drivers. The device manager says everything is ok. And troubleshooting doesn't fix it even with the restart. The audio may not even be in use at the time. I know because when the speakers are connected and turned on they start humming.
What is a solution I can try?

Uninstall the audio drivers from Device Manager. Exit. Reboot. Let Windows automatically re-detect, search for, and install the drivers. Jack E/NJ

So I did this. The first time I uninstalled from device manager and rebooted. Same problem. So I uninstalled from Control Panel and re-installed from the Realtek website. But it doesn't make any difference. The sound switches off when the computer is sleeping. It didn't for the first week so something changed.

Device Manager is the same in Control Panel. Go back to Device Manager. Right click on the Realtek driver. Then click update driver and let Windows automatically search the computer and the for the best driver. Jack E/NJ

I've decided what happens is that the computer turns off after a period causing the attached speaker to start humming. I can work around that ok.

By the way I like your avatar. I flew an Airborne Sting 3 until a few years back.

What happens to the hum if you unplug any AC mains connections? Avatar a heavy litespeed5.  :) Jack E/NJ

The hum drops by about 75% but now I don't have to reboot the computer though it starts so quickly it may be rebooting.

I couldn't get in as Simoc.
I upgraded to V1.05 but that only makes the noise louder. The speakers are small amplified Bose. Thanks for your help guys.
  • @SimoncTry disabling dolby digital plus to see if it solves the problem! Also check in microphone, "listen to device" is activated! Turn off special effects!

Can the Bose amplifier be battery-only powered? If not, try reversing the AC mains plug if possible. Jack E/NJ

Well I think I've tried all the suggestions, except reversing the mains plug which I don't get. Looks like I'm stuck with speakers that I need to remember to turn off. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Please. Can the Bose amplifier be powered only by battery? Meaning you don't have to plug it into an AC wall socket, aka the mains? Jack E/NJ

I have a new laptop ( just 2 days) acer SP314-51, there is fan noise?

would you please help me how can stop it?

@Banoo Some fan noise is normal to cool the CPU. If the noise is too loud for you, you should return the new laptop to the vendor for an exchange or refund. Jack E/NJ

How many prongs does the AC plug have? What I meant by reversing them, is if it has 2 prongs can you turn the plug upside and insert it into the wall socket? Jack E/NJ
