So the coolboost option on the Acer APP exists but fan speed does not change when i turn cool boost on. I assume i ll be able to hear the fans ramp up, but literally nothing changes. So any ideas what im doing wrong? The coolboost plugin is in the folder it has to be (plugins).

Auto-throttling can happen when ***actual*** sustained temps exceed ~90°C. Auto shutdowns near 95°C. Since throttling doesn't seem to be noticed --- and shutdowns aren't happening --- I'd hafta guess the fan is running full tilt and doing its job under coolboost under very heavy load. And I'd also hafta guess that you really don't need coolboost most of the time unless it makes you feel better. Wastes energy though.  :) Jack E/NJ

Was the CPU being heavily used & hot when you turned the Coolboost on? Jack E/NJ

Nope, it was at 40-45 degrees C but i expected Coolboost to increase fan speed regardless of CPU temp. Does it not work like that? When will the fan make use of Coolboost, at what temps? I was hoping that increasing the fan speed at the start would prevent the CPU from getting too hot.

Nope. Coolboost doesn't work like that. It's automatic. And 45°C is ice cold on a running machine. Here's the fan speed table. Anything below 90°C under heavy CPU/GPU loads is normal. Jack E/NJ

Well the CPU does get to 90-95 C under extremely heavy load with an undervolt but its on 3.9 GHz and using the hyperthreads + 100% gpu load. Usually I can run it on 2.3 GHz at 50-55C and around 3 GHz at 65-70C so im pretty happy as i rarely need the 3.9 GHz boost. I also have a cooling pad under it. No throttling though, unless i specify it personally.
