Exactly like what the title says, how can I be sure that the installed BIOS is a legitimate copy? I've tried googling around but I only find people that can't enter the BIOS, not how to check its integrity...

Do you mean the BIOS firmware? OR the hidden file on the HDD that interacts with the BIOS firmware that allows Windows or Linux to boot? OR the BIOS chip hardware on the mainboard itself? Jack E/NJ

Integrity could mean accidentally corrupted firmware which usually manifests as a video, keyboard or touchdevice failure. I suppose it could also mean purposely modded firmware which can result in anything --- good, bad, strange, annoying, or hardly noticeable behavior. Do you have reason to suspect modded firmware? Yeah, I just bought this computer a couple days ago and I noticed it was made in Dec 2017 so I was like oh, there's probably a BIOS update for spectre/meltdown. I go to the product page and notice that the BIOS version that the computer had wasn't on the list... hmmm. This is were I got a touch suspicious. I remember that when I first booted the computer, windows was crapping out during the set up screen, throwing errors I had never seen before, I didn't write them down since as soon as they showed up, the computer would restart. I managed to get windows working from a Media creation drive I had on hand, but now looking back on it all, I don't feel quite sure if this computer is entirely "new" because of all of that

    (1) What's your full model name and number? (2) What's its BIOS version number? Jack E/NJ
