I bought this acer predator helios 300 317-51-787B about 3 weeks ago, and up until now it has never had an issue. Until about 13 minutes ago. I'll let you in on the details. Computer was dying so I turned it off and put it in the bag. I had to check my stuff at the security office before coming in, and down it went. Now this bag is a good sized bag, its almost like a small duffle bag, and I have everything for a portable gaming experience in it. Well, after I was done having a heart attack, I turned it on to see if the screen was damaged. It worked fine, showing the desktop, mouse was fine. It did tell me to plug the thing in as it was on 25 percent. I turned it off to save the battery, put it in the bag and walked home. Well, when I got home, I plugged it in expecting a nice little Boop, but to my surprise no light came on. It scared the hell out of me. I fumbled to the forums to find a solution and don't even try to tell me about the "button under the battery reset thingy" because I pressed that thing for a solid minute with no avail. I was getting desperate. I thought it was a charger thing, so I ran and grabbed a charger that might've worked.. Except it shorted out the surge protector (oh *****). So you may be thinking: "who gave this stooge a computer?" And to that I beg you to forgive my stooginess for a minute to help me out. I have a warranty.. I think.  But if you have any ideas, please.

Please elaborate on "shorting out the surge protector" as those are designed to prevent shorting out other electronics.

Well, what I meant by is that it.. Well.. You know.. Sparked and turned off like a surge protector would if there was a surge. I'm not an electrician here. I'm an *****.

Take it to a service center... you never know if the fall bent a pin somewhere that's shorting internal circuitry.

    I agree with @sri369
Especially if its sparking it could cause a fire.

*update* just got done setting up a shipping to the service center. Let me say off the record that that was one of the coolest and most amazing customer service people I have ever met. Like, I wasn't treated like customer#125789 or something like that. They listened to me and my rantings, they accepted my humor covering my shame, they even assured me that, and I will never forget this, "there is always a way to get out of situations like this" and that was the best experience I've ever had. Now, a bit if advice for people who might have my problem: DO NOT USE A CHARGER THAT IS NOT MEANT FOR YOUR SPECIFIC MAKE, MODEL, OR WATTAGE. You'd think this would be common sense, but I panicked. Anyway, thank you all for the help.
