ES1-531-C97T laptop. Function keys no longer functioning. Hopefully, I inadvertently did some keystrokes that disabled...what do I need to do to get them back?

    Hi Bandy,

In your 'Start' menu click on 'Run' and type in services.msc
You'll see a long list called Services (Local), click on the name parameter to have them sorted alphabetically.
Find the one called VAIO Event Service. Double click this and ensure that for Startup Type it says 'automatic', if it does not, change it to 'automatic' and click 'apply'.
Then be sure below that, that the Service Status says 'Started'.

Greatly appreciate your reply, but unfortunately, it looks like I don't have that service...under either "Extended" or "Standard".

Should have mentioned, I'm running Windows 10...if that makes a difference.

Bandy Firstly, look on your keyboard. Check if there was any key like F Lock  or F Mode  key. If there is one such key, press it and check the Fn keys if they could work.

The hard drives on most laptops are partitioned. In this case, as many users reported, after they try to press F11 or F12, the Fn keys works again. Thus make sure to try to press F11 or F12, then check your Fn keys if work.

Also you can try doing BIOS reset and check. Hope this works!!

I've let this sit for a while, but ready to do something about it now.

I've only rarely poked around BIOS n' stuff in any computer I've owned, and have never looked at my laptop config till now.

So...is this the "Magic Save" that will hopefully restore my Function Keys?

    Screen shot hopefully attached.

And yes, I tried F11/F12, and no, I don't have specific Function keys.

    Wish I did...
