HEllO my friends! I ve the Gtx1050 Ti variant and when I'm using external HDMI display and close the lid (laptops cover) the internal HD 630 graphics disengage, works only the Gtx gpu and I have big lag (delay) whatever I'm doing in Windows. Pointer stucking videos stucking everything stuck and goes laggy. When I open the lid all work perfect again!!! p.s. no matter if I'm using the charger or on batter is the same lag.   Any help to fix this plz?

    You could try OBS as it does have a bit better cooperation with recording at the moment.
    You could also try enabling experimental features in geforce and see if it works better so you can stick with that

    Actually, I think restarting again has fixed it. Enabling Experimental features and rebooting twice seems to have fixed it. I'm not gonna hold my breath since it MIGHT happen again, but hopefully this is the real fix for it! I'll keep testing different situations and see if the problem is actually gone. I'll update with my findings! :D

    The only thing so far that seems to cause it is opening the UI for Geforce Experience itself. Not Shadowplay, but the UI for drivers/games. Once I close it (like any other program) It goes back to smooth!

    Well, the lag is because of onboard graphics card taking over 3D applications altogether. Simply try forcing Nvidia to start taking control. To do so:

    Open NVIDIA Control Panel
    3D Settings --> Manage 3D Settings
    Open Tab --> Global setttings
    Preferred Graphics Processor select : High performance NVIDIA processor.

    See if it fixes the issue.

    Do you have a display port connected?

    The only way to work with external monitor without issues are with the lid open and just mirroring the screen

    How about with lid open, but screen set to external display only?

    I'm having the same exact issue on my Predator G3-571 laptop. I asked Acer support and they told me to format my PC even though this has been happening since I unboxed the thing.

    So I think I have found the issue. It seems that the issue is due to the fact the GPU clocks down from 1800 Mhz to 1400 Mhz when you're not using a 3D application. One thing that seems to work to fix this (I think) is to make sure the lid is open when you initially turn the laptop on.

    EDIT: Another thing I noticed just now is: if you have Geforce Experience open, it seems to make the UI lag completely horrible. Closing it somehow resolves the issue.

    @SkylerMews

    I have a G3-572. When connected to external display, and I have a couple apps using GPU, my GPU still stays at 139 until it is needed to work more where it pushes upwards. This is normal for CPU and GPU clocks to scale up and down based on load.

    Also, just remove that Geforce Experience.

    The Helios 300's HDMI port is controlled solely by the Nvidia GPU and cannot be governed by the Intel GPU.
    That being said I dont see that being the issue.

    Have you enabled multi monitor performance in Nvidia Control Panel?
    If so and you're not using multi monitor for your game then I suggest disabling it.

    Also you could try going into your display settings and turning the laptop screen off entirely and use only the external monitor and see if that corrects the issue. (That should help narrow it down)

    That's how I'm working now and that's the only way but with the lid open.

    Ahh then you could try disabling fullscreen optimizations by finding the games exe and right click > properties

    Things I've tried:
    - reinstalling Intel and Nvidia Drivers
    - Disable the laptop display completely.
    - Change the preferred graphics processor in the Nvidia Control Panel to my "GTX 1060"
    - Change the multiple Display Optimization to "Single Display/Multiple Display/Compatibility Mode

    The issue is, the Windows UI is super laggy and choppy. Almost impossible to use.
    When the laptop display is on, the problem is gone, but then I have to deal with the bottleneck issue with the Nvidia graphics card having to go through the Intel chip. So, Id like to keep the display closed/off. The issue seems to go away temporarily when I have a 3d aplication running, but the minute I close the application, it goes back to being laggy.  I really wish I could fix this! ;(

    I also forgot to mention that I used DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Windows Safemode to uninstall the Intel and Nvidia drivers before I reinstalled them.

    The games run fine in fullscreen. The issue isn't in the games. As long as the games are in fullscreen, everything is fine. My issue is that when I don't have a 3D application running (I.e games) or the games/applications aren't in fullscreen ... the lag starts up. It's to the point where moving windows around is tedious and hard to do. So "fullscreen optimizations" wouldn't have any affect on my games. It actually recreates the lag problem when disabled even if the game is in fullscreen. The suggestions that I had made at my first post don't seem to actually be a real fix. Merely a coincidence that the problem went away.

    ADDITION: I seem to have found a TEMPORARY fix. If I disable my GTX 1060 (while laptop display is off) and re-enable it, the problem goes away. (tested multiple times) There's a catch to this though. It would require that I disable and re-enable my GTX card every time I reboot/start my laptop. So it's gotta be something about the card not getting properly initialized or not properly switching to the GTX card when the screen is closed?

    So if you disable fullscreen optimizations it makes it lag even when in full screen?

    That helps narrow it down.

    What programs are running?

    So, the programs I have running are:
    Firefox
    Discord
    Gyazo (yes, tried turning it off)
    Norton
    Acer Care Center
    Spotify
    Logitech Utility Engine (headset)
    Nvidia Control Panel

    Opening Geforce Experience seems to make the problem come back, but I like shadowplay and it's recording with no performance drop. I'd be more than willing to drop it if it's the problem and there's a better alternative.
