I purchased my PH315-51 on 16 May 2018. On second day of use the laptop froze, screen froze, no trackpad response, no keyboard response. Then I had to force shut down the system, after shutting the laptop won't start unless battery reset pin hole button is pressed for 10-12 seconds. And this issue occurs randomly anytime. Is it the general problem with all the laptops of this model !?

Any other fix for the problem apart from battery resetting?
Do anyone know when can we expect the BIOS update for the fix?
Has anyone debugged that indeed it is a BIOS issue and not Power or Memory issue?

Did you buy it from Flipkart? I bought on the same day. Mine is working just fine. If the problem persists you should consider replacing it. 26th May is the last day for returning it. Just because you got it cheap doesn't mean you should compromise when you buy something for 60K INR.

Before returning check the CPU and GPU temperature. If it's beyond normal level try keeping fan to max and place the laptop in a cooler room with proper ventilation.

I don't think it has anything to do with heating as it freezes even while browsing or doing very simple tasks. I was using it for training deep learning NN architectures and it never froze while doing that. Anyways, the CPU and GPU temperatures are between 37C -100C and 38C - 76C resp. while the training an NN.

Yes, I got it from Flipkart. Absolutely, one can never say a cheap but defected product a good deal and nowhere in the sale they mentioned that because it's on discount the quality will be compromised. I have already initiated the refund/replace process. But still I am looking for some solution as I have already installed my softwares and platforms and don't want to go through that process again and again.

I am getting my temperatures for CPU between 40-90c. So I guess that's not the problem. Also, you might have to wait for next sale, because they are not gonna refund it as it's out of stock. I don't think they compromised with the quality for sale, as I know many people who have bought and got a good product. Anyway in your case returning seems to be the best possible solution.

However if its brand new, better go for a replacement. you're not alone here. There are many people complaining like you. Just go to Flipkart and sort reviews by most recent and certified purchases. Looks to me like Acer in all their stupidy have produced a batch of predators (with latest coffee lake chips) that has this issue.

    All the best.

I had the same issue. It occurred once. I reset the pin three days back and not issue after that. using it for 3 days. I've asked for the replacement nonetheless.

Battery reset is my only resort for the time being. Some 7th gen chipsets also have this issue so it can even be a Firmware or Power issue.

Mine is  i5 8300H, haven't faced any issue till now. Finished battlefield 1 and currently playing mass effect, Arkham asylum, along with some Android development. I guess I got out lucky.

I have applied for refund and Flipkart has approved it. So, I thought that this will be the best option instead of sabotaging 73K if the problem continues.

I am experiencing this issue currently. It started this evening. I suggest you take this seriously because I'm really ***** right now. We people are paying a lot of money into your pockets and as I noticed today while looking into your support forum that customers have been experiencing this issue since last year. Oldest I can find was Sep 27, 2017. Saw some suggestions regarding BIOS Flash Drive Trial in order to fix this and even ram placement issue  suggestions on a YouTuber's Video. I bought it just around last week and I demand it to be solved asap. I hope I'll be updated soon. I'm waiting here.

I would suggest you guys to try reinstalling your graphic drivers first before moving on to some other conclusions.  :)

And regarding black screen on restart,
Have any of you tried reinstalling windows?

Our screen is black and nothing is responding anyhow. So we're currently unable to perform anything on our workstation.  So your suggestions are valued but sadly cannot be carried out.

I am facing same problem. like all of us and I also bought from flipkart.

temporary solution is just use reset button(push a pin or niddle inside reset button). after that your laptop open normally but try to use as mush thinner pin you get to push reset button.

in my laptop I am using this method but after couple of hour it again get freeze so I use force shutdown button and then, I start again , I got black screen but keypad light is on . so shutdown again and then push a pin inside reset button after that when I open laptop open normally. Temporary method
