Hi, this is my first PC, would it be ok to leave it on all the time since I'll be using it as a media server?

    Hi,
if its a server purpose then surely you can leave it on all the time.

Go to power options and remove the sleep options as never sleep.
Also change the settings as never turn of the display in power options.

    Hi,
Stereo is fine for TV. if you have 5.1 external speakers then use them with the options.

Christy1 thanks for the reply! I got another question. I can't select 5.1 audio. The pc is connected via HDMI to a TCL 55S405 tv which is connected via ARC to a soundbar.

I have the same desktop and TV :p I don't see a 5.1 option either over HDMI, but I'm not using a sound receiver (TV by itself only reports Stereo).

I would suspect ARC isn't working properly, or the OS/driver doesn't know how to utilize it. If you have some other way to be sure the receiver works over ARC (like a game console or something), you can likely rule the receiver and TV out.

As for keeping the desktop on all the time; go for it. This thing is highly energy efficient from what I've seen (I have a smart power strip and this computer when idle doesn't produce enough load to have it detected lol).
