Hey there - so I bought an Integral Fusion USB 3.0 flash drive, should be fine for my Chromebook 14 (CB3-431) - but it just isn't recognised. Works fine in my Surface Pro 4. So...anyone else having an issue, or a similar issue with a different 3.0 flash drive?

Hi, The USB port available in computer model Model # CB3-431 supports both USB 2.0 & USB 3.0. Moreover, if a port is black it is USB 2.0 compatible, if it is blue it is also USB 3.0 compatible. To isolate this issue, please try connecting different USB device and check whether it is recognized by Chromebook or not. If Chromebook recognizes it, then rest assured. There is no problem with Chromebook.

You will also see it if the drive is formatted with the wrong file system, though that'd be unusual since the supported filesystems are fairly comprehensive.

Thanks - I spoke to Integral support, they also suggested I check the formatting on the drive, seems fine.

And the USB ports are working fine with my other flash drives (which are all USB 2.0 so I'll try and borrow another 3.0).

    Try formatting NTFS.
