Ever since i bought my Acer Swift 3. The Headphone jack has never worked regardless of plugging in a variety of headphones.

Would anyone happen to know what the problem is or if this is a common issue ?

what is the full model number of your Acer Swift 3 device?
Does the Headphone get detected in the Sound window?
Are you able set your headphone as the default playback device?

Right click the Start button, Click on Control Panel
Select Hardware and Sound, Click Sound
Under Playback, right click and select Show Disabled devices
From the list of headphones, right click on your headphone device name
Select Enable, Click Set as Default. Click Apply

Follow these steps to disable the headphone’s jack detection:
Open contol panel > Select Hardware and Sound
Find Realtek HD Audio Manager then click on it
    Go to Connector settings
Click ‘Disable front panel jack detection’ to check the box
Try on your headphones again to see whether this solution works for you.

    Hello

The model number is: Swift SF315-51G

The headphone is not detected by the sound window.

I'm not able to set the headphones as the default playback device.

I've followed the instructions but have seen no changes. My HD Audio Manager does not have those options.

I've also tried a combination of uninstalling the driver & updating the driver. The closest i have come so far is registering the headphones in the 'manage audio devices' settings by uninstalling the realtek drivers altogether (the headphones didn't work, they were disabled but they registered with the jack). This was also not a solution since neither the headphone jack nor speakers would work if the drivers are uninstalled.

I'm starting to think this is a driver related issue.

Any advise on how to proceed ?

Update: External speakers connected through the same jack work.

    It's a single jack with a headphone/microphone + External speaker combo output/input.

If the external speakers work just fine, i assume the hardware is fine ?
