I need to get into safe mode. The computer is running like cold honey. When exactly do I hit the "F" button and which one?

    Hi,

    You can get into Safe mode by different ways.
    FOR WINDOWS 7 ---->
    Turn on the computer and immediately tap tap tap tap tap..... on f8 until you see the Advanced options screen.
    FOR Windows 8------>
    Turn on the computer and immediately Shift key + Restart the computer.
    It will navigate you to options---> troubleshoot----->advanced options----->startup settings---->Restart----->press f5 for Safe mode with Networking or f4 for Safe mode.

    >>>From Windows 8.1, you will not able to enter [Safe Mode] by pressing "F8" when you boot the system.
    Click [Settings]. Click "Change PC settings".
    Please click "Update and recovery", then select [Advanced startup].
    Click "Troubleshoot". Click "Advanced options".
    Click "Startup Settings". Click "Restart".
    Enter the proper mode by using the numeric key or function key F1~F9.
    You can enter [Safe Mode] from the 3 options.
    Enable Safe Mode
    Enable Safe Mode with Networking
    Enable Safe Mode with Command Prompt

    >>>Another method is to press the Power button at the Windows login screen or in the Settings charm. Then, press and hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard and click Restart.

    First you must enable the F8 function from command prompt :bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

    The sad part for me is Safe Mode will not open. It just goes to a grey screen. Windows can not repair. Any ideas?

    Boot in normal mode.
    >>>Check and repair system file error
    Run System File Checker in Windows  and type cmd in start search box. Right-click cmd and choose Run As Administrator.
    At the command prompt, type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.
    The SFC utility will run for a while and if any corruptions or errors are found, replace them on reboot.

    >>>To clean boot your Windows, follow the steps given below:
    Go to search bar and type System Configuration and press enter.
    On the Services tab, select on Hide all Microsoft services check box and click Disable all and then click on an ok tab.
    Again go to Startup tab and search Task Manager and to open click on it.
    Now go to select all items and click on the Disable tab and close the task manager.
    Now again go to start-up tab and type of the System Configuration dialog box, click on ok and restart your computer

    >>If issue still persists, please go to Settings > Update and Recovery > Recovery. Then under "Refresh your PC without affecting your files," click the Get started button.
