Hi, I have the Predator Helios 300 and have overheating issues. While I play some games in Vsync and medium graphics it tends to reach 80-90 c. I've done things to get my temperature I purchased a laptop cooling pad (5 fans) and undervolting cpu. I still have issues with cooling. At this point I'm almost ready to just ditch predator laptops...

Did you try to update your predator sense? Is your helios is 572 -573 type?

Temps close to and around 80 are something everyone experiences for both the GPU and CPU.

I limit my CPU to 2.8ghz most of the time.   Which games is this occurring in?

Also, just confirming you've updated the BIOS and VGA drivers from the Acer website after your purchase correct?

If your average temperature doesn't go above 85C even after undervolting(I know some users have lower temperatures with undervolt, but this is because of the poorly applied thermal paste on your CPU), then there isn't anything to worry about. If it goes above 85C, then that isn't acceptable in my opinion, even though with such a high temperature, the CPU will still outlive the other components(capacitors and resistors, which usually go off first in a system). In this case, I suggest you to contact your retailer and ask for a replacement(only when you are still within the return policy) or contact Acer and request your device to be taken a look at.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

I'm having helios 300 model g3 571 and it's running with no problems on ultra setting I get max 60c- 65c max temp , actually I want say to jumbocorn it all depends an the games ur playing some games required big prossesor power and pushing the graphics to the limits even if u lower the graphics you well have the same problems try more games and you well see its not ur pc ,it's the high end games pushing up ur heat .for example I play all this games on ultra setting and it just stay on max 65c doom ,shadow of war , the witcher 3 , gta 5, arkham knight , dishonored 2 , ww2, blackops 3 , the evil within 2 , wolfenstein 2 , the only games pushing my temp to 85c is mafia 3 and assassin creed origin , I test this games in my second pc my msi dominator 880 gtx and it goes 90c only with this 2 games, so you have to know it's not ur pc it's the games, use cooling pads and good room temp with undervolt and apply max on fans it should go ok.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that the Acer Predator Helios 300 G3-571 supports Vsync, or at least not very well.

If your getting a good unvdervolt and verified it.  You can try to seal the edge of the cooling pad by applying some rubber/foam strip to the cooling pad this will force more air through the notebook.  You can also try disabling Turbo as that will make a significant reduction in temperature, however some games may also reduce FPS

Double check the undervolt is taking, I'd also recommend ThrottleStop 8.60 and here's why

This is Prime95 running Small FFT's which is way more load than any game will put on the CPU -132.8mv undervolt no thermal throttling. Notebook will run as long a you want under this extreme load.  This is with the fans set to auto at around 4.2K / 4.4K, maximum will pull the temperature down a little further.  In gaming most I see is mid 80's on the CPU and high 70's on the GPU, stock paste GPU is not undervolted.

    Predator 17 G9-793 7700HQ, 32Gb, GTX 1070, BIOS 1.13, W10 1803 - Ambient temperature 25C

Realistically 80C is pretty normal for a gaming  notebook under load, cooler you can get them to run the better.  Key is to understand what exactly is the cause and why it's not cooling off.  Another option is to undervolt the GPU, in my experience several small steps can often add up enough to reduce the temperature to stop any thermal throttling and bring the operating temperature into line say 85C max.

Raise the rear of the notebook, confirm the undervolt is taking, consider disabling Turbo, enable VSync from the NVidia Control panel, look a undervolting the GPU, a lot can be done...

Set your fan to around 5500rpm. You don't get max framerates when your fan spin slower on a high demanding game.

    Follow the video guides here.
Your temps will be under control and performance improved.

Some times the default power option is set to high performance in windows change it to balanced after that change the maximum process state to below 100 by default it will be 100.You can do this by going to control panel>power options>change plan setting >change advanced power setting>processor power management>maximum process state>on battery and reduce it.For me at first my temperature was reaching 97 degree while playing call of duty but after doing the above steps my temperature is below 75 degree. If u wish to reduce more use the max fan speed on predator sense

you are right , i have the same laptop, it does not support vsync, is probaly the games or the room temperature, i play call of duty warzone high settings and it gets to 66 ' C  max
