    Hi,
You need to find the values for Maximum link width for your PCI Express Root ports, install HWiNFO64 program, run it, expand Bus, expand PCIe Bus, highlight the PCI Express Root ports and if you find one of them has Maximum Link Width value of 2x or 4x, you can install NVMe ssd.

Good Info for windows users. HWINFO64 author says he thought about making a Linux version but thinks its too much trouble. So I found a solution for us Linux people. open a terminal window type " sudo lspci -vvnn" look for the  " LnkSta: Speed "line. I have three lines like that one of them says "LnkSta: Speed 8GT/s, Width x4" I have to assume that means My laptop will support NVME m2 x4 . Good luck

@COMPUTERMAN1999   You might want to see if the PCI busview b and treeview t options further confirm your assumptions. Jack E/NJ

    Hi,
Yes, you can install 960 Evo and might get the readings similar to mine. there is not much between a NVMe and SATA SSD for day to day work.
