Acer Predator Helios 300 not turning on or charging, battery indicator is not lit.

That's pretty much all there is to it, i bought the laptop about 4 months ago and all of the sudden is isn't turning on. I assume its just because its dead and wont charge. I have tried resetting it w/ the pihole and paperclip, no success. Is there anything else i can do, such as manually removing and reconnecting the battery or such?

    I would suggest you to contact Acer support in your region.
    Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

    Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

    This also happened to my Acer predator g9793 as it does not turn on anymore and does not even charge. tried battery reset and all that

    How did u sort it out then? Did the service center help?

    SOLVED, at least for me!!!!!  Wow I woke up Sunday morning to my Acer Predator completely dead, no charge light, no power, no anything.  Not being one to just give up, I tried a number of the obvious things I could find on the web, and then I thought let's pull it apart and see if a direct disconnect of the battery would help, so I pulled the memory cover off, removed the memory, tried powering it on, and nothing.  Pulled the multiple screws out of the bottom of the laptop (like 16) and then slowly from the edge pulled the bottom of the laptop off.  From there it was easy to remove the battery, and video memory.  Still nothing, arrgh!  My wife was standing in our bathroom brushing here teeth and she happened to notice when I had it plugged in, and hit the power button there was a small but consistent spark that came off the bottom of the mother board under the edge the fan shroud (it's one large piece).   Well that can't be good.  I pulled the fan cover off (another 8 or so screws) and I found there was a small piece of foam spacer that was either not applied well or got hot and moved enough where metal to metal contact was being made (metal fan shroud to chip).  The metal part of the fan was making contact with one of the chips shorting it out completely.  I moved the foam back of the top of the chip and then used my wife's glue gun to add some additional glue to make sure the foam stayed in place.  I then reassembled and I'm now typing this comment on said computer after running it all weekend to make sure it did indeed fix the issue. 

    This is a close up of the foam that was out of place and is only visible after removing the fan shroud.  I will say Acer makes this laptop pretty easy to work on if you have a small Phillips screwdriver.

    @TrendaeSam Very interesting!
    I'd like to make a suggestion though..

    Perhaps you could use some thermal glue instead of hot glue to bond it in place. Or using a bit of thermal paste to give a bit of adhesion would work as well.

    The reason being hot glue doesn't have a thermal "conductivity" and may cause problems over long use sessions.

    Have you contacted Acer to see if they would replace due to the improper pad placement?

    No I never thought of that at the time.  I could have installed some thermal paste.  I had some in my shop, but at the time I was just happy to get it back up and running.   I only use this laptop for business so it doesn't get run very hard.   It's been a week since I applied the glue and nothing has showed up so far.  This laptop has been on a dual fan chill pad since new so i don't think it'll be an issue.  If it is I'll pop it back apart, clean the couple dots of glue off and fix it. 

    I never reported it to Acer.  I guess I figured maybe Acer would be monitoring some of these threads and would pick up on this issue.  I would bet based on what I found on Google there have been a quite a few dead Predators that were nothing more than this issue.  I knew there was a reason I've let my wife stay around for 28 years.  She saved me $1000 or more on this one.  Good wifey!

    @TrendaeSam You got lucky, and glad you were able to resolve this issue. And I am glad this shorting wasn't related to battery resulting in battery leaking. I would still recommend take this up with Acer - atleast so they could try avoid this kind of issue in future models.

    Is the problem resolved? I might have the same problem.

    I had this problem and i tried everything as well  and it didn't work, luckily mine had warranty so i gave it to Argos and got it fixed. apparently the motherboard was fried , i dont even know how though (acer predator 17).

    Describe what procedures have you tried to fix it so far so we can start to rule something out

    I fixed my problem by taking it back to where i bought my laptop from and then they sorted it out since it had warranty. apparently the motherboard went so they replaced it, but not too sure. Its working now and no problem since

    Hi, not sure if you will get a ping from this, but I think I might have the same issue with a different pad in a similar spot.  That honestly looks like the pad is straight up melted compared to the others, so did you just move the congealed mess to a more appropriate spot?  Here is what I am working with before I get the courage to remove the heatsink.



    So thermal paste is what is suggested to re-attach the pad?

    I'm having the same issue with a PH315-71 I haven't disassembled it yet but I was having a battery drain while powered on and the battery wouldn't take a charge. Acer warrantied a charging brick which arrived today and still no power. The indicator is not lit and it's plugged into a surge protector into a verified working outlet. I've done the battery reset as well with no results. I'm contemplating taking this unit apart and seeing if there's a short like listed above however I'm concerned because of the warranty.

    I fixed my issue on my acer predator 17 laptop by giving in repairs as it had warranty. It came back working and apparently it the motherboard was fried or something thats what they told us.

    Sorry I know this is a old post but how long had you had the laptop before your motherboard had died ?
