I just bought this laptop and it's great so far. The screen is a little on the ehh side and I would like to buy an external monitor to make the most of the GPU. What's the highest spec monitor I could get? I have the predator Helios 300 model G3-571-77QK
i7-7700
16gb ram
GTX 1060-6gb

Can I get a 144Hz refresh rate? If not what's the highest refresh rate?

Can I get a 4K monitor?

Will it support gsync?

From the information that I have, it is written that you can't output more than 60Hz at 1080p.

Despite that some users have reported that they were able to run their monitors at 144Hz refresh rate. The HDMI port's version is 2.0. I am not sure whether it be able to output 4k as it is not shown in the table above.

G-sync is not supported via HDMI.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

I believe some monitors support freesync via HDMI, but not every monitor. Freesync doesn't work with nvidia GPU.

Hi guys, I can confirm the Helios can output up to 240hz via HDMI if the monitor allows.. I have a FB Helios group with 1800+ Helios owners and we have compiled a list of compatible monitors that allow such high hz outputs. Many members currently use.

I added a list to this forum a week or so ago you should check it out.
Again these are all confirmed via video or by myself.

Wow that was really useful thanks. So pretty much what you're saying is that if the monitor natively supports higher refresh rates it should work? Is there something in the specs I should be looking for when I look for a monitor?

Unfortunately bro coming up with this list was extremely painful lol.

Basically what you look for is manufacturer specified HDMI 2.0 hardware on the monitor itself.

And most of the time they don't specify so you have to ask the manufacturer.

@Red-Sand so I found this monitor

AOC G2460PF 24” Gaming Monitor, FreeSync, FHD (1920x1080), TN Panel, 144Hz, 1ms, Height Adjustable, DisplayPort, HDMI, USB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BV1XBEI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_TZq1Ab2F4PJ9H

Seems like a winner. Do you know of anybody's experience with this monitor?

Just re checked your monitor post and saw it in the list, so I guess it's good.
