Hello,

My notebook battery does not charge anymore. The blue and orange light indicators at the front also do not light up or flash anymore despite being connected to the AC adapter. This has already happened to me once before last year but I was busy at the time and just did not use this notebook anymore. Btw it's 3 years old but has been used only very occasionally and also spend some stretches of time stored away in the cupboard.

Last month I tried using it again and it worked without any problems (always 100% battery) up until 2 days ago when it stopped charging. It quickly ran out of power as I was playing a game at the time.

I have already tried to reset the internal battery as shown here: https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34843/~/acer-internal-battery-reset

Now at least the notebook reacts when pushing the power button: The blue and amber lights flash and the screen shows the message "Critical Low Battery" and after about 3 seconds shuts down again. Still no charging nor lighting up of the indicator lights though.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Please check if the charger working fine since both the blue and orange light indicators are not glowing.

Thanks for the suggestion Sharanji. I have tried using a different AC adapter but it does not charge the battery either, still no lights.

If it's not the same AC adapter model, you must check the output voltage of the original adapter plug with a multimeter. Should read at least 15v. If the adapter plug has a hole in the middle, you must also check the computer jack to make sure the center pin hasn't been bent to one side. I also think you will need to replace the battery ~$25 online. Jack E/NJ

Thanks for your reply JackE. Unfortunately I don't own a multimeter and am not very familiar with this stuff. I have read the stickers on the AC adapters and compared the voltage etc. before trying the other one though and from what I could tell it was the same.

I checked the computer jack and the pin seems to be straight and unbend.

About the battery, would it also suffice to simply remove it and let the notebook run without a battery? The notebook is intended for home use only.

It might OK. Trying it shouldn't do any more harm. Jack E/NJ
