Acer Switch Alpha 12 will not update to BIOS 1.05

When I try to update the BIOS to 1.05 (released on 2018/04/02), I get an error that says:

"Warning: Current Region ME does not have R/W rights."

Please see the attached screenshot.  Can anyone help me solve this?  I'm assuming this BIOS update patches against the recent Meltdown/Spectre threat.

So I see that Acer pulled v 1.05 off the download page for the Switch 12, so they are obviously aware of the problem with the installer.  Does anyone know when we can expect them to fix it and get a proper updated BIOS?  I imagine they will roll the version number to 1.06 is my guess...

Do you mean "know when" as in 100% certainty? =)  Jack E/NJ

What was the 1.05 update for anyway? Was it intended to fix Spectre or something else?

Seems to have disappeared. Now we'll never know if it was intended to fix an overhyped vulnerability --- or something else that most folks shouldn't worry about. Jack E/NJ

Overhyped or not, if Acer fixes them and releases a new bios, that would be great. It is little things like this that will influence my decision whether I buy an Acer product next time around. It will make me feel good about the brand and their products.
