Why doesn't the screen go off or screensaver work with a Bluetooth connected mouse.

Hello fellow geeks and gurus. I come to you with the mystery that I cannot solve. Bear in mind I'm usually the guy that everyone far and wide comes to when they need computer help with something no one else knows anything about. So, for me to be so stumped by this has really got me frustrated. LOL.

I have an Acer Switch Alpha 12 (SA5-271). I use a Bluetooth mouse, and like most people I would like to be able to step away from my computer and have my screensaver start or have my screen turned off after the specified amount of minutes. Sounds reasonable, right? I can't figure out for the life of me how to make that work.

As soon as I disconnect the Bluetooth mouse, power management resumes and turns my screen off. However, if the Bluetooth mouse is connected, the screen will not ever blank nor the screensaver ever start. I checked everything in power management that I know to check.

Due to circumstances (of which the reason I got a tablet in the first place) I have to rely on battery for many hours during the day. Without my screen blanking, I'm burning my battery for no reason. Even if it's for 10 minutes here and there, that would make a world of difference throughout the day.

Any ideas on this? Maybe a registry tweak?

Thank you so much for your attention. I just know someone out there can figure this out.

Jerry

I don't usually use a Bluetooth mouse with my SA12, but I'd guess either the mouse is always sending tiny position corrections or the driver has the ability to turn off power disabled. You might think about just turning the mouse off when you step away and back on when you return. It'll take a few seconds to reconnect but that's better than keeping the screen powered up.

Something is niggling about a Bluetooth setting in Device Manager under advanced for "allow the PC to turn off..."

Well unfortunately, there's more to it than that with my particular situation. From a hardware standpoint, it should not matter, but I'll explain nonetheless. You see, I have just about no use of my hands and I use a motorized wheelchair. The wheelchair is operated by a small joystick. It also has a Bluetooth mouse module built in so I can switch my operation of the joystick from the wheelchair to the mouse. It stays powered on as long as the wheelchair is on. So, even though I "role" away from my computer, the Bluetooth stays connected and thus the screen stays on.

My solution has got to be in a window setting.

Start (right click)> Device Manager>Bluetooth>Intel Wireless Bluetooth>Power Management Tab (on my R11)

Any answer to this question?  My new Acer C22-860 screensaver won’t come on unless I unplug the USB for the wireless keyboard and mouse from the computer.
