Planning to buy 7 Triton 700 laptops for VR and need to know if they can run at full load with screen down?
I am asking this as I noticed a small air vent to the right of glass touch panel.

Many thanks,
klen.

You would want to check your power plan to make sure when you close the lid, nothing happens. You don't want it to go to sleep, hibernate or shut off. Jack E/NJ

I don't think this answers OP's questions at all.

He is asking if blocking the small air vent over the CPU with the lid will cause any damage to the laptop.

This is a very good question. Not many laptops have such a design and this might actually be dangerous to do. Closing the lid WILL block this air vent, no matter how we try to sugar-coat it.

I think it's naive to think heating won't get worsened like this. Actual damage can be done to the screen itself, if the heat builds up too much.

I guess the way to test this is to just close the lid and monitor thermal stats on your external screen during heavy load. If you see an increase of temperatures, then you know it's having a bad effect. I am pretty sure temperatures will be worsened. Perhaps a middle ground is to keep the laptop's screen open at least a little bit, while having it turned off and only the external screen is on.

Agreed If the main worry is heat. Closing the lid isn't air-tight but might be air-restrictive enough to reduce cooling efficiency. Good point. Your middle-ground suggestion might be the solution if there is a problem. Jack E/NJ
