Hi there,

I have a veriton VN4640G-i7670X nettop computer running OpenSuse Leap 42.3.

I have downloaded R02-A3 BIOS update for the system, but i cannot install it. When i try to update from the UEFI environment i do not get to select the removable media or the command prompt described in the documentation accompanying the update. If if try to run the flasher from a windows (w10) environment, it appears to be flasing, but after reboot it remains in the older release R01-A3. Again the documentation on the process is outdated or does not math the actual process.
any suggestions?

I am having same problem. I was not able to create bootable drive with EFI shell. Win Flash Utility SOP v1.4 do not works for me ether. (driver problem or something).
Older bios versions has update option for DOS which works without any problem.
So pls Can some one give as update info for this?

Well, i got to reach the EFI shell by following the instructions described here:
    https://www.msi.com/files/pdf/win8_UEFI_BIOS_Update_auto_en.pdf

note that ACER BIOS update does not include the shell executables required to boot, therefore the an USB created with just ACER provided content for the update is not bootable from the EFI environment.

Once the system boots out of the USB, i can run the flash.nsh application provided by ACER.
It calls for the execution of AfuEfix64 ..\ROM\R02-A3_H.cap /P /B /N /R and reports an error:

    Reading flash ............ done
3 - Error: ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size.

It then continues executing FWUpdLcl.efi ..\Rom\MEFW.bin - allowsv -FORCERESET

sends a warning about not exiting the process o power down the system while updating
completes "Sending the update image to FW for verification"
and starts running the update reaching 100% and resetting the computer.

Ater booting, and checking in the BIOS config screen, it remains in the same version of the BIOS

I was able to update older BIOS versions, from R01-A3 to R01-A4, then to R01.B0 and finally to  R01.B1. I tried to update to R02-A2 and got this DOWNGRADE message. Did not dare to keep going:
