My Acer Aspire V5-591G's USB ports are not working. At first I thought it was the keyboard itself, but everything I plug in won't work. My keyboard has LED lights and the lights will turn on but they shut off after a few seconds. This happened to my older keyboard too. The lights switched on, but it says it was setting up, but when it says the device is ready the lights shut off. The keyboards don't work at all. The laptop recognizes there is something being plugged in but they either shut off, or they don't work at all. I didn't touch anything inside the laptop. My mouse does not work on the laptop anymore. I unplugged the mouse and plugged it again to see if it worked, but now the mouse will not work on the laptop. The only thing that works is the touch pad and the laptop keyboard. I even plugged in an XBOX controller in to see if it would work but that didn't work too. I opened a game and the controller can't do anything,it's not recognized by the game either.

    To isolate the issue, we have some questions for you:

    Are you using the same windows operating system preinstalled with your device?
    Aside from what you have mentioned, what were the other changes made before the issue occur?
    What other troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    Did this issue occur after you installed windows 10 Creators Update?

    There are a lot of possible reason why the issue has occur. Kindly perform these methods of troubleshooting steps and check if there's any changes:

    1) Hardware and Device troubleshooter.
    Type: troubleshoot in the search bar and click Troubleshooting;
    Go to Hardware and Sound > Hardware and Devices > Click on Advanced and check Apply repairs automatically;
    Click Next and let the program check and fix existing problems in your drive > Click Apply this fix and click Next;
    Click Enable, close Troubleshooter and restart your PC to keep all changes.

    2) SFC Scan.
    To run an SFC scan, follow these steps:
    Run Command Prompt as Administrator.
    Type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.

    3) Refresh the USB drivers in device manager
    Right-click on Windows logo > Select Device Manager;
    Expand Universal Serial BUS controllers > Find the device with a yellow exclamation mark;
    Right-click on it and select Update Driver Software... > Choose Search automatically for updated driver software;
    If there is no new update, right-click and select Uninstall > OK;
    Go to the Action tab in the Device Manager window > Select Scan for hardware changes > Then the USB port will appear.

    4)Some users report that Windows 10 is booting too quickly and therefore there’s not enough time for external devices to be detected before the system boots.
    Open Control Panel and choose Power Options.
    On the sidebar on the left click Choose what the power button does.
    Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    Under the Shutdown settings find the Turn on fast startup and uncheck it. Now click Save changes and you’re done.

    Let us know how it goes.
