Triple Tap to Open Folders

For a long time now to open a folder or file I need to triple tap. If I click the touchpad in bottom left corner I can open files/folders with a double click.
What I have tried so far with no change: Reinstalled touchpad drivers, disabled Remote Differential Compression, started in safe mode, rolled back drivers...
Some info on my system:
Windows 10 Home 64bit version 1709 build 16299.248
Acer Aspire E5-573
What should I try next to fix this very frustrating problem?
Thanks

Hi,
Have you tried to change settings? Go to Settings, click Devices, click Touchpad in the left pane and adjust the settings.

Hi,
Yes I have tried changing these setting many times to various different options. I have also just done the hardware trouble shooter with nothing detected.

Hi,
Could you please go to Device manager, expand "Mice and other Pointing Devices" and post the snip.

You could try two methods, if one doesn't work, try the other one.
1. Go to BIOS and switch to Basic mode, download and install Elantech driver and install it.

or
2. Right click Elan I2C filter driver and uninstall it, then go to BIOS and switch to Advanced mode.

Option 1 fixed the double click issue - but has also broken single click. I now need to double click to close windows, select options in dialog boxes, right click for a context menu etc. I have also noticed when selecting a tab in Chrome with a single click it will pick the tab up to drag it. Single clicking in text to shift the cursor will also try to drag in its new position.0

Hi,
You may have to try different drivers and select different settings.
