Travelmate X349 random shutting down

Hi Guys,
I successfully updated the BIOS to v1.11. From then my laptop is shutting down at random times as if I pressed the power button for 3 seconds (on AC and on battery too).
I am already tried to reinstall the Windows 10. The clear Windows -without any 3rd party program- does the same.
I use the laptop on desk so I can exclude mechanical damage.
Does anyone have an idea? Thanks for the help.

What problem did you think the BIOS update was going to fix? Jack E/NJ

The random shutdown error is appeared after the BIOS update. So I think the update caused the problem. I don't know exactly what the update contain which can cause this annoying error.
Maybe any chipset or other driver update can solve it? I downloaded all the new drivers from Acer, but they didn't help.

BIOS updates almost always carry a risk of bricking or damaging a mainboard due to errors in writing instructions to bootstrap hardware. Firmware instructions are not meant to be easily changed.  Accordingly, they should only be tried as a last resort to solve a problem that the update specifically addresses. I suggest that you try to re-install the update to correct these writing errors. Jack E/NJ

Same problem here. Installed the update because of some bluescreens. Now the x349 keeps shutting down randomly. After restart it only lasts some minutes. Can't run the update again.

@Pierre6352 and @nellymops  Which BIOS versions were originally on your machines? Jack E/NJ

I'm not sure, but I think it was v1.09.

@Pierre6352   OK. What was the name of the unzipped file that you ran with v1.11? If it was an EXE file, did it produce any additional files? Were there any other files created from the unzipping the v1.11 download? Jack E/NJ

It was BIOS_Acer_1.11_A_A.zip. It contains only the BIOS_111.exe. No other visible files were created.

OK. I assume the v1.11 re-install failed. Did trying to re-install the older v1.09 also fail? Jack E/NJ

Yesterday I reinstalled the v1.09. The original flasher doesn't let the downgrade or reinstall so I had to modificate it.
So far it seems working good. I will test it for a few days and then I will try the v1.11 again.

How do i have to modify the exe? I would try it out too. I already opened a warranty case because the fan makes strange noises sometimes too. Don't know if I should send it to acer so they take care of it.

@nellymops If it's still under warranty, let ACER service handle it. BIOS firmware mods are also too risky. Click the ACER service link at the bottom of this page. Choose Germany. Then enter the machine's serial number id (snid). Jack E/NJ

Notebook is at the acer service since 07.03.2018. They are waiting for the spare parts, no date mentioned. Im really not satisfied with this. No reaction to my E-Mail with suggestion of sending me another device to avoid the waiting time.

Seems to be my first and last Acer device... Don't forget it's the business series of Acer and they do advertisment with 3 years of warranty. But it doesnt help if they need so much time.

Send another email if you haven't already. Wait an hour or two then send another one. Also a phone call 04102 7069 111. Then try to wake somebody up on the chatline https://de.answers.acer.com/app/chat/chat_launch     Jack E/NJ
