Acer Iconia B1-780 - Any way to disable adaptive volume switching?

My new tablet changes which end of the volume button is "up" and which is "down" based on the orientation of my tablet. This would be annoying enough on its own, but:
a) there is enough lag between my changing the orientation of the device, and the volume button switching ends, that often I will be pressing what is the correct end for its current orientation, and it will still be doing the opposite of what I want. I have to release the button, wait a couple of seconds, and then try again.
b) there doesn't appear to be any way in the settings to disable this so-called feature (I'm sure some people like it that way - I am 100% not one of them, to the point it's going on my list of features to NOT want on any future tablet purchases). I am really hoping I'm missing something buried on a sub-menu that will disable it. A downloadable patch? An app? Anything!

     Hi @ MsBarrows

The volume button changes it's function based on the orientation. After checking, I found that hardware is designed in such a way to function. I'm afraid there is no settings or update which will help you change it.

The only way I know of to prevent it is turn off auto-rotate and change orientation manually. You can tap the icon on the drop down tiles from the top status bar to toggle the orientation mode. It's a bit clunky but at least you'll be in control of the buttons.

e.g. put the tablet in fixed landscape mode by tapping auto-rotate which turns it off. To get back to portrait, turn the tablet and then tap the same icon again (twice to lock it to portrait).
