Won't boot after installing second hard drive Helios 300

Just received my Helios 300 and ordered a Seagate 2TB FireCuda Gaming SSHD to go with it. I installed it, and tried to boot, and it gets stuck at the Predator splash load screen. The hard drive itself makes what sounds like beeping noises that won't stop, but I'm sure it's just "reading" the drive. If I remove the HDD, the laptop boots just fine. I can't get to the BIOS either while the Seagate drive is installed either.

Just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas other than defective drive which is what I am leaning to.

if its a hard drive try to see if it has a jumper clip that forces it to be the master drive. Switch the jumper to slave drive.

Was there a solution here? I too am having the same issue. The hard drive that was shipped w the Acer doesn’t seem to have any master/slave pins on it so it may not be that.
    Many other thoughts?
does the Acer 300 know out of the box that this D drive is not a boot drive?
any help would be appreciated. This is my son’s Xmas present and he hasn’t gotten to really use it yet bc of this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

I suggest you to download and install latest BIOS available. Find your device from the list and the BIOS can be found in BIOS/Firmware. Before executing the installation make sure the battery is fully charged and laptop connected to AC. The device may restart several times during the installation. Don't attempt to turn it off until the installation is completed. After the BIOS is updated install the HDD and hope the laptop will boot with it.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Thanks for the suggestion but updating the Bios did not seem to help... the drive still beeps and the predator screen never goes away...

Unfortunately, I can't think of any reason why the HDD causes your system not to boot. I will do some research and if I find something, I will post it here.

    thanks so much!
  • Try booting into the BIOS using F2, and making sure the M.2 SSD is selected as the first in boot priority. And after that, if it does not work, try just setting the BIOS to the default settings.

I have the exact same problem. I've tried updating the BIOS and I made sure the laptop was plugged in but I still get the beeping. It's not even possible to get into the BIOS using F2 if you have the FireCuda in, it just beeps.

Any solution to this problem? I resolved the boot issue by disabling secure boot but the secondary HDD is not listed anywhere. Both on bios and disc manager

Check the sata cable and if the drive is working with a usb adapter/enclosure/dock or in another pc if the issue it's not the drive either its the sata cable or the port

I have returned the Seagate 2TB FireCuda Gaming SSHD to Amazon and they sent me a new one. Then everything worked perfect. So the drive had a factory issue, I recommend to ask for a replacement.

Glad you got it sorted but just pointing that using an sshd as secondary hdd for gaming it's completely useless the sshd are only good if you have the OS installed on it as they will not cache nothing in the flash if they are used just as secondary storage they will perform as a normal hdd drive so resuming a waste of money you would have better performance from a normal hdd at 7200 rpm just letting u know anyway everyone is free to do what they want :)

PS: i have 2 sshd on my 7745G and one of my 5740G a toshiba H200 1tb ( the best of them all never had issues with any toshiba in my life ) and a seagate like yours which lasted less than one month just lost everything on it just died amazon sent a replacement and yes the boot and the performance increased a lot coming from a normal wdblue but as i said they have to be used as main system drives or they will be just useless
