acer aspire switch 12 s keyboard lagging (probably sleeping) after Win10 Creators Update

Hi, the mandatory update (I guess) has brought two extremely annoying behaviors

1) Upon reboot or other power up events, my keyboard enters some kind of "keypad mode" where the right side types numbers instead of letters, I undock and redock to get the "normal" behavior. Did I miss a setting somewhere?
2) Despite my backlight staying on, even if I stop typing for a few seconds it seems, the keyboard seems to "buffer" and whatever I typed appears perhaps 8 seconds later, with some of it lost too. What on earth is this!  I tried to maximize all the power settings I could find, I suspect it is some power setting for the keyboard dock but was not able to find which devices in Device Manager could be responsible
