Hi,

KB4041994 Update for Windows 10 version 1709 Insider

Since the above cumulative update applied to my machine, the keys m,j, k, l, u, I, o, p etc., the letter keys that are also the numpad, have stopped working.
If I press "Numlk", the numbers still work though.
Tried rolling back the update but Windows Update will not allow it.
Then deleted the two drivers in Device Manager under keyboard - both called HID Keyboard Device - Driver Version  10.0.16299.15 and restarted the machine to allow Windows to install latest drivers ....came back with the same drivers though.

Any ideas?  note, I'm using the virtual keyboard in tablet mode to type this.

Thanks for your replies. My laptop keyboard is now working again. I didn't back out 1709. Instead, I waited a bit and ever since the most recent Microsoft update KB4058043 has been applied, my keyboard has started working again.  Coincidence?

Hi, I contacted Acer support about my keyboard problem thinking that it may be a driver issue  Their response was "Regarding your query, I suggest you perform a system recovery from the recovery partition on the computer to resolve the issue."
Does anyone think that is reasonable or is it taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut?

Hi Zorrotgb, this is happening to me as well and only after 1709 (Creators Fall Update). I went back to 1703 and it worked fine. I've gotten around the issues by undocking for about 2 seconds & redocking which will work fine until a shutdown. Not sure if it's related to the Razer laptop's having a similar issue or not. Haven't found any solutions as of yet, hoping more people have the issue so Acer sort it out

    Hi all,

Have y'all check on Microsoft, theirs a lot of issues going on with this update and is not an Acer base issues is Microsoft update problems, so i will recommend to either roll back the drivers that are creating issues or restore ur PC to a previous point before the update, also relate to this link and see if u can find anything that might help:

Maybe a bit premature in saying resolved. Keyboard was working fine again but the next time I powered up the Laptop, the old keyboard problem came back. So, I reverted to using it in tablet mode (detached from keyboard). I later attached the tablet to the keyboard base without powering down, and guess what..... the keyboard was working again. Really confused now.

    Thanks for your reply Torquii.
I have found that each time I power up my laptop, the keyboard has the original fault I posted at start. But if I detach the Screen from the keyboard base and go into tablet mode, then re-attach to the keyboard base, the keyboard works fine.
A bit annoying but at least its a workaround until I can find a solution.

Any news for this point. Also with the newest update the issue is still the same. I also see that the Intel RealSense camera does not work anymore with 1709. So the device became more and more useless with 1709.

    Hi

So I spend again several time and i can provide a solution for the issue.

The problem cames from the driver from "Fresco Logoc F-One Root Hub" and also "Fresco Logic F-One Controller". Windows Update installs a driver from 2016. This produces the error. Now i manually go and update the driver direct in the device management, there the systems installs a new version from 2018.
It is very important to update the driver for both devices. Now the new driver version is 1.3.34208.1. With this version everything is working again. Even the camera now is back and works.
