Hello there,
As the owner of one of these machines there is something that I have to share and that everyone thinking of buying such machine should know.
You all know that on the spec sheet for the gtx1060 version it says that it supports G-sync and some pages even say that the monitor is running at 120Hz. This is NOT correct. First of all the panel is different from the one with max-q GPU. It still is IPS and 1080p but is capped at 60Hz. I don't know if it is capable of anything higher.
If you want to look it up for yourself this is the model number and manufacturer: AU Optronics B156HAN06.0
And it also does NOT support g-sync on the said display because the iGPU is enabled and connected to the display. For g-sync the display needs to be directly connected to the Nvidia chipset. It comes with Optimus instead, which might be good for the battery but is horrible for gaming. Maybe if there was a way to disable the iGPU on a BIOS level it would work, but honestly the BIOS on this thing is a joke. The most useful option there is to disable/enable the sound on POST. (If anyone finds a solution please contact me)

So thee bottom line is that if you are spending 2000 dollars on a gaming laptop WITH g-sync and 120Hz display, you might as well spend another 1000 and have the other model.

Also, tell me if you want a somewhat comprehensive review of this model and if you have any questions. Maybe I'll update this post down the line.
Bye now.

Can you post your laptop's full model and the part number?
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Unfortunately, predator tritons 700 with gtx 1060 don't support G-sync on the built-in panel, just like you thought.

why is it in the spec sheets then?
anywhere I look, including the official page, says gsync is supported.
it would be nice if they updated their data to match the product.

I think by G-sync is supported, they mean that it is supported on external displays via DisplayPort.
