I recently bought a new pc the acer predator helios 300 with 1060 6gb and i7 700HQ and it is unable to play any steam game over 45 fps. I am only getting 20-40 in pubg and the same in csgo. Things
I have tried: updated the drivers, deleted then reinstalled the drivers, tried changing nvidia control panel settings, checking if it is in power saving mode. And nothing works.... I am really frustrated and kind of sad because this should not happen

Do you play these games, while the device is charging or on battery power only?
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

The weird thing is that 1/20 times the games run smooth with upto 144 fps and the rest of the time it is 20-40......

Probably the intel HD graphics is running instead of the GTX 1060. Go to Nvidia control panel>3d settings>preferred graphics processor and choose high performance nvidia.

Download HWiNFO and record your CPU and GPU temperatures, while gaming.
You can use predator sense to find out whether the GPU is idle or not. If it displays the GPU as idle while gaming, then the GTX1060 is inactive.

https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/drivers find your device's model and download the latest BIOS - 1.13. Before executing the installation maka sure the battery is fully charged and the AC adapter is plugged in. The system may restart several times during the installation. You can also find and install the Intel HD graphics driver that is available there.

If none of these helps download and run furmark. On the top left corner it will show what GPU the system is currently using. If it shows GTX1060, then it is some kind of a performance issue, if it shows Intel HD graphics, then the system for some reason is unable to use the dedicated graphics.

I don't get what you have changed and where did you change it from.

Have you tried all suggestions that I have given here:
