I have an Acer Aspire with the latest bios update (1.10) i am an advanced user so i tried about every possible try to solve tdrihe problem but to no avail.
I tried to put in advanced touchscreen, used only the keyboard to use the notebook, in this mode, i tried to install i2c drivers, chipset drver, elantech driver and synaptics driver. I tried to use driver programs, intel auto search, searched this community, used all the recomended drivers they suggested but it didnt work.
I think there are lots of people who is having this same problem with this edition of notebook.
I made a test to see if it was a hardwaare problem or software problem, i used a Linux Debian live USB and to my surprise IT WORKED, without custom driver the advanced driver worked.
so i only have one conclusion for my problem.

This notebook needs a BIOS Update for the creators update
The Creators update and creators fall has a touchpad problem they are unable to solve or they dont want to try.
It doesnt have suitable touchpad drivers for this version of windows.

So if its possible to do it, Acer support, solve my problem. I dont want to have to only use Debian Distro to use the advanced touch.

Thanks a lot,

    Hello there,

I had the same issue after Creators and Fall Creators update. Good news,
it is easy fixable by simply uninstall and reinstalling the Intel Serial IO driver (604.10135.1001.53001) back. Check your Acer product support site for the driver.

However, it appears to be a software issue, rather than a hardware one. Please see my last comment: (strange, I'm unable to link it)

Thank you so much Chris86, I have spent hours trying to fix this after installing the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update! The touchpad stopped working altogether so I had to use a mouse in the end. I read in other posts to change the touchpad BIOS settings to Basic mode. This returns basic touchpad functionality but it does not allow scrolling or advanced features since the touchpad runs as a PS/2 device. The BIOS setting should be set to Advanced and as Chris86 advises the Intel Serial IO driver uninstalled and reinstalled. The laptop was upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, so it had previously been necessary to reinstall 8.1 drivers (I had forgotten this). Following Chris86's advice reinstalling the 8.1 Serial IO driver fixed the problem (IO Drivers_Intel_603.9600.1948.28229_W81x64) and for good measure I reinstalled the 8.1 touchpad drivers (Touchpad_Synaptics_18.1.2.1_W81x64).
