These drivers don't require to have the latest windows version.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

There is no need to reset windows to factory settings. You can run windwos in safe mode, which will disable all drivers. This way we can see whether the issue you have is caused by a driver or windows itself(it is no different than refreshed windows).

To enter in safe mode open 'RUN' and in run enter 'msconfig'. Go to boot tab and enable safe boot, by ticking the square(see picture).
If the issue occurs in empty windows, then it most likely is a windows bug. There is also a very little possibility that it could be the laptop's fault too.

To exit safe mode, go to the same place and remove the tick from Safe boot.

If it doesn't appear in safe mode, then your laptop is fine and windows isn't corrupted. What most likely causes this is an old or outdated driver, or a startup program. Make sure you update graphics, WLAN, sound and all other drivers. The drivers that you need to update can be found here. Download and install all drivers on Acer's page for your device, without the Intel and Nvidia video drivers, as you have already updated them. If you have GeForce experience installed, uninstall it as it may cause the issue.

The problem most likely have something to do with nvidia optimus, but if that is the case, this fix should have worked after you applied it.

    1. The easiest way to disable this is using the program 'ShellExView' that be found at: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html
    2. After downloading and launching the program, you will need to find the two items to disable. These both are under the Extension Name 'TheDesktopContextMenu Class' with the description 'igfxDTCM Mod' as shown in the screen shot.
    3. Disable these two items.
    4. Restart your computer.
    5. Give feedback to let us know if this solved the problem.

You can then go to nvidia control panel -> 3d settings and choose high performance nvidia as preferred graphics processor.

Open command prompt and enter 'sfc /scannow', this will automatically scan and repair any errors. Additionally go to control panel>small/large icons>troubleshooting under system and security click on 'fix problems with windows update'. Run it as an admin.

I have run out of ideas. If that doesn't fix the issue, reset windows to factory settings(windows settings>update and security>recovery>reset this pc>get started). After the pc resets, repeat these steps:

Even if after a refresh, the issue persists, contact your retailer and ask for a replacement or refund the laptop.

'Remove files' will quick-format the drive, 'remove files and clean the drive' will slow-format it, which makes it harder to recover unwanted data. Choose 'remove files' only.
