When turning it on, my tablet will either go onto the recovery screen or it will flash the logo screen then show the USB symbol with a white underneath that turns red after a minute. My sister is the last one to use the tablet when it "crashed" and Ive been trying to recover it ever since. Any advice would be great, Thanks!

You can try a factory data reset on your tablet.
The following steps will erase all of your personal information, all stored contacts, and any programs you have installed on your tablet.
Power off the tablet. Press and hold Volume Up and the Power Button together. Release the Power Button after three second and continue holding Volume Up until you see the boot screen.
Select Recovery. Use Volume Down to highlight Wipe data/factory reset. Press the Power Button to select it.
Select Yes -- delete all user data.   Select reboot system now after the reset is complete.

I've already wiped it and rebooted it. I cant get past the recovery screen. I've tried to install the Android KitKat 4.2 but it reboots during the installation or the installation fails.

probably there's a ROM memory issue, since you already tried to reflash the OS.
if you are under warranty, contact Acer support service...if not...i think, it's not worth to repair it.
    I'm not an Acer employee.
