Can I add a 2.5" SSD to my ACER ASPIRE 5 A515-51-88NY laptop

There is an empty 2.5" HD slot in the laptop, i was wondering if you can add a 2.5" SSD into that slot to increase storage.

    That's all I need. Yes, you can add an SSD but will need a ribbon cable to connect to the mainboard connector and bracket (you could also use foam instead of the bracket to stabilize it inside the case). Go to crucial dot com, find your model for compatible upgrades. You can use any vendor for SSDs upgrades with similar characteristics. Jack E/NJ

    Are you asking about the SNID and SN? My laptop is the Aspire A515-51

    You should specify that you need the ribbon cable & bracket from SSD or HDD vendor. These are standard items for laptops. You'll note that crucial usually includes the SSD bracket adapters but double-check with whoever you get them from. Jack E/NJ

    Hi,You can install a HDD up to 2TB.

    Hi,
    Yes, any 2.5" SATA 3 HDD/SSD will fit but you have to ask the retailer about the cable as I am not sure whether your model comes with SATA cable.

    Thx, i bought the laptop! How to know what kind of hard drive or ssd i can put in the spare space for it? We said 2,5 inch, , what about the mm? 7,5mm 9mm? Can we put m.2? Or nvme? Thx for your answer ! And we said for HD 2 tb would be max , what about ssd max?

    Hi,
    Yo can install either 7mm or 9mm 2.5" HDD, it has a M.2 SSD slot and capable of PCIe 3.0x4 but can not confirm that you can use a NVMe SSD, you can safely install a M.2 SATA SSD up to 256GB.

    When i remove the kind of door on the back i see a good space for a hd but there is no plug, no cable, nothing to plug a hd

    You need to get in touch with Acer Support in your region and request the details of partner retailers in your country where you can buy them or they may be able to fix them for you. Removing the back cover may void the warranty, so it's better if you get them fixed by Acer Service centre.

    hey i talk with ACER! 5 agents yes 5, told me there was a kit and they were going to send it to me, 2 weeks later i talk again with them because i dont have it yet, and the new agents told me there was no kit, and nothing by the mail for me... im disapointed... and i have a HD and nothing to plug it....can you help me out with this ? Also read on an other post , the kit are the same as the predator helios or the Acer nitro, what is the way to get those kit

    i am talking right now with a Acer SUpervisor, he is telling me i CANT add a HD into this model ... and all other agent told me i could ! hes saying me the door under the laptop is because they removed the optical drive! and there is some bracket to fix there to add a HD, but hes talling there is no cable available to plug the HD to the motherboard.. its like im never talking with the good guy ...
