Hello, new member here... I've had the desktop for 3 years and don't really use it for anything but have recently learnt a game I used to play has been remade by a different group, and have started playing again, however. It is slow. Bit laggy, like.. Not internet lag, as in. I'll move but it'll temporary crash before carrying on Again, this makes it fairly hard to play as it requires alot of moving, clicking the mouse buttons and loading screens between areas, I have the game set to lowest settings because my pc can't even run browser programmes properly. I've done anti virus and malware scans and all come back clean. I'm running Windows 10, Intel j1900 processor, HD graphics card (built in) 4gb ram, 1tb HDD. It has Bluetooth, wireless internet but I use Ethernet cable, and a standard monitor.

Ideally I don't want a new PC, id just like to (hopefully) have to remove the motherboard, put a new one in that allows the addition of a recent graphics card, processor and ram, my friend whose very very good with computers says that I'd be able to remove and replace motherboard, put a new graphics card which is more recent, and capable of playing games, a new recentish processor, and ram.

Now, I know nothing About PC's. I trust my friend, he says it's possible. So if it is Indeed possible, could I get some suggestions for motherboards and graphics cards processors and ram?

I'm in no hurry to acquire all the stuff as it's just been Christmas and I'm skint like alot of people, I'd just rather not spend like 800quid for a whole new computer for gaming, I'd like to just put new motherboard in my current one and put a new graphics card in it,

So I'm really just looking for suggestions on motherboards and graphics cards, and rams and processors, the game isn't demanding at all. Like, it got released this year, but the company who made the original decided to stop doing the game few years ago, and a new group took it on and have finely got it open to all and not just beta, I really want to be able to properly enjoy it, even on lowest settings, but I have no clue about PC's as you've probably figured out.

So Yeah, just want to know if and what motherboards would fit and carry what I'd like it for, which graphics card is suggested, and of course processors and ram.

I am running Windows 10, 1TB hard drive, don't know CPU, whatever the XC603 CPU is, not near my PC right now as it's late, and Ethernet cable. The graphics card is I believe. Intel HD graphics card. The unit cost me about 189 3 years ago in Argos. It's done very well but I'd now like to change motherboard out for one that can accept more ram, a graphics cars, and processor stuff. (Which I honestly have no clue about) so I'm looking for help with upgrading it via a new motherboard.

A new HDD isn't required as there's barely anything on the pc. World of Warcraft, anti virus. Malware scanner, Firefox chrome and edge (Firefox because some sites I've come across lately won't work with chrome or edge only explorer, which is no good for me as it's w10.

Thankyou and sorry for such long post. Merry Christmas all.

Hi, well you have a problem, if you change of motherboard, you need to fin a motherboard that is recent that supports GPU and that also has your same CPU socket, that is complicated, knowing your proccesor, i reccomend you this budget configuration, that it doesnt cos more that 600 USD: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 1200, CPU COOLER: be quiet ! Pure rock slim 35.1 CFM CPU Cooler, Motherboard: MSI- B350M Gaming Pro Micro ATX AM4, Ram: crucial- Balistix Sport Lt (1x8gb), Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5 7200RPM, GPU: EVGA- GEFORCE 1050TI 4GB SC GAMING ACX, SINGLE FAN, Case: YOUR CHOISE, SOMETHING BUDGET " Rosewill- SRM-01 Micro Atx Mini tower case, Power Supply: EVGA 500w 80+ Bronce certified.
That is something bufget that would make you run decent games on medium or even high settings with more than 60FPS.

Hi, very helpful thankyou, however I'm not looking to build a whole new pc, I was really hoping I would be able to just put a new board in my case and attach card, processor and stuff to that? I'm really not looking to build a whole new pc as I'll then have a hunk lying around being even more useless. I'd like to just put a new board in and then attach the other stuff, I'm probably gonna call my local computer guy and ask if i can bring my unit round so he can take a look inside and let me know what board and stuff, I literally just wanna play a basic game without it being slow. I don't need high quality settings. I'm happy playing in low. It just makes me feel a bit rubbish having a pc that can't run a basic game on lowest setting, or run a basic operation without taking ages. :/

I thankyou for your help, I really appreciate it, but I was hoping to buy a new board, RAM, processor and graphics card and put it into my current case. Is this possible? I'm gonna give my local guy a call in February and ask him to take a look for me I think as I have a laptop (Which can't run anything either to be honest) but the C Key stopped working and no idea how to fix that. So was gonna ask him to look at both and attempt to repair my C key and let me know about my desktop insides and see if he can change the board to one that'll suit what I'm after, and the other bits, quote me on it all and hopefully it'll be cheaper than buying a whole new PC and not require a new case. Few years ago he quoted me a gaming PC custom built, think it was 650-750pound not sure, but by time he'd emailed me back with a price I had to save back up as I had to pay bills and stuff and didn't have enough in savings for the PC and be able to make it to next pay day aha. So I'm gonna call and handle it all via calls/texts so I can get my quote and arrange for it to be done while I have money. Being an adult really sucks. Lmao.  Thankyou
