Acer V3-571G doesn't recognize both SSD and HDD in the Boot Priority Order

I saw that many of you have the same problem, but unfortunately I haven't seen a solution... The problem is classic, when I have only the SSD in my laptop, everything works fine, but when I use the HDD too (either in the caddy or in its place) it only sees the HDD in the Boot Priority Order.

The single solution of booting from the SSD is to press F12 and select the SSD manually..

    maryus66,

It looks like there was another customer that had the same problem in this thread and had success getting it to work correctly.

Hello, want to give me solution for this problem.

A friend gave me an Acer V3-571G with SSD in the HDD slot and the HDD in ODD slot and said that sometimes the windows won't boot. I stumbled upon the same problem with BIOS Boot order only showing the HDD not the SSD, i format the HDD and still the same.

Here's how i managed to get it working: i played with the SSD and HDD moving them around the HDD slot and the ODD slot until i had another 2.5" HDD from another laptop and i gave it a go. The computer started booting into Windows from the SSD even tho the HDD was listed as first boot priority in BIOS. After that i hooked the other HDD to my PC and started comparing, seeing what was the difference between them. I found out that this other 2.5" HDD was from a newer generation laptop and the partition table was GPT, not MBR like the other one. I converted the HDD to GPT and everything started working normal, it just bypasses the HDD boot because maybe it doesn't support GPT and UEFI. The SSD is MBR.

    Hope this helps someone!

It should default to booting UEFI, which means GPT drive and EFI partition. In order to boot into a legacy environment (not needed since W7 sp1) the drive needs to be MBR and the BIOS settings need to be changed. Your V3-571G was "Windows 8 ready" when shipped, and W8 required UEFI support.
