I replaced the original proccessor with a Core 2 duo T9550. I am trying to run Win7 32 bit on a VMware player virtual machine. I get various error messages which indicate that VT-x is not enabled. The processor is not the problem. The Bios seems to be locked as I can't access any advanced features to be able to enable VT-x. Switching off "Hyper-V" has not helped. I have bios 1.05 but I believe that upgrading to 1.07 will not solve the problem. Does anyone have a workaround,

Ironfly's solutions have not worked for me (http://community.acer.com/t5/E-F-V-and-M-Series-Laptops/To-activate-Intel-Virtuatilaztion-Technology-VT-X/td-p/381460)

if my instructions didn't help you, the other workaround is to find a modded BIOS but we can't discusse it here...google, by the way can help you. Smiley Wink

    (1) What VMPlayer version? (2) Did you run the player with the old processor OK and on what host? (2) What's the host now? (3) Is the virtual fixed- or dynamically-sized? Jack E/NJ

It's VMplayer 14, host is Win10 Pro. I had not tried to use a VM with the old processor, this is my first attempt. VM is fixed to 60gb. VMware installed without a problem and I installed Win7 32bit on the VM, again without a problem. On trying to start Win 7, I get the error messages concerning VT-x not being available.

Have you tried to change the Win7 VM guest CPU settings to run without VT-x? Jack E/NJ

I cannot find a menu to enable changing of guest cpu settings. The installed bios is Phoenix ver 1.05 (2009) according to CPUID and 1.00PARTTBL according to DXDIAG?

I found the menu! and checked the boxes for dual core and VT-x but no luck, win7 will not start, pretty much same error messages.

Did you check to exclude or include? I'd try setting them for a plain-vanilla CPU if that's not how they were automatically set when you first installed Win7. Jack E/NJ

I have tried all combinations for proccessor under "Virtual Machine Settings" same result. I cannot find references to "Include" or "Exclude". The error message is still "This host does not support "Intel EPT" hardware assisted MMU Virtualization"

The VMWare community is reporting similar issues for Version 14 with older CPUs. There are some workarounds that only seem to work on only some CPUs. If enough VMWare users report this older CPU issue, perhaps it'll be addressed more quickly.  Google "VMware Workstation Pro 14 - Fails To Start Due To CPU Non-Support" . I managed to get it to work with VMware 12.5. On installing VMware 12.5 I noticed that I had made a mistake with the installation of VMware 14. I missed the screen which during installation allows you to specify the hardware requirements. I filled this in during the installation of VMware 12 indicating that VT-x and EPT were to be used. Program installed without a problem as did Win7Ultx86. I suppose the main thing to know is that an 8735ZG with core 2 duo processor can run a VM.

I think v14 will eventually be fixed. Did you post to the VM community? Or are you planning to try to re-install and see if it works? Jack E/NJ
